Model EU Training and Simulation Events

The EUCN in partnership with the regional chapters of UN Youth Aotearoa and the National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE) at the University of Canterbury holding a Jean Monnet grant are pleased to offer annual Model EU Training and Simulation Events to help New Zealand high school students understand better the workings of the European Parliament (EP) and to highlight current issues discussed at parliamentary level.

Students will be 'Delegates' representing a political party of the EP and a Member State (MS) country. Delegates will then work with members of their own party and those with similar interest to form a position on the various issues and find the best outcome to dealing with the crisis. Debate takes place in Committees over 1.5 days and culminate in a Plenary session at the end of the second day, when Delegates attempt to accept a new Directive.

We are very happy to offer three Model EU events in 2016:

UN+PRECEDENTED, Wellington on 21+22 May 2016

UN+KNOWN, Auckland on 20+21 August 2016

UN+SOLVED, Christchurch on 1+2 September 2016
