The Slovak Republic, the European Union Delegation to New Zealand, New Zealand European Union Centres Network and the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs, invite you to a lecture by His Excellency Miroslav Lajcak, hosted by Mark Mitchell, MP, Chair of Foreign Affairs, Trade & Defence Select Committee.
Slovakia's place in the world
The Role and Priorities of Slovak foreign policy within the EU and the world
More than 25 years since the fall of Communism and a decade since joining the European Union, what is Slovakia's place in the world? How have Slovakia and the EU responded to the crisis in Ukraine? What is the way forward? Currently reliant on Russian gas, how will Europe's Energy Union package help the Slovak Republic diversify its energy supplies? How does Slovakia project its voice in the world today, in the United Nations and the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran?
The lecture will be presented by H.E. Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
Thursday, 28 May 2015 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
