The EUCN, in association with the National Centre for Research on Europe and UN+Youth will be holding the first Canterbury Model EU on the 2nd August at the University of Canterbury. This event will bring together senior high school students from around Canterbury to debate issues of energy security and environmental policy in relation to the European Union.

This is an opportunity for students to learn about the process of international negotiation and consensus building modeled on the European Union, which has a history of over half a century of peace-building and political integration. Our focus of the day will be on attempting to find collective solutions for meeting different countries energy needs. What is the impact on the environment? What is the financial cost? What about the international implications?

The Model European Union conference will be held on Thursday the 2nd of August at the University of Canterbury. The event registration fee is $15 which includes all materials and morning/afternoon tea and lunch on the day. This event is by application only, as a limited number of places are available.
